If you read my last blog entry about “hate ” you will understand this  “follow up”.

Olivia, my daughter started to learn how an organization works behind the “scenes.” She was learning more about how to rescue animals, and also how to promote a campaign. How to receive help from others, and how to collect donations.

There are numerous of kind people out there that truly want to rescue animals, but don’t realise (many times) the tough work. All the free hours that are put in volunteering every day. Well, I wanted to teach/educate her together with my son Max, about the wonderful and also difficult situations it means to run an organization.

Together we started, “Olivia rescue Horses Campaign”.

Little would we have known, and understand, that some people could be rude and make false accusation about her work. –You can read all about it in the last blog entry–

Olivia became very sad, and I could saw her energy going down. As a mother, you want to protect your children, like a momma bear.

Amazingly, there were many people that read my words, wrote back and made beautiful comments about Olivia, and her work with the horses. Me the Momma Bear, got very happy emotional and very thankful to all you that wrote with love to her (and me).

I read them all for Olivia.

We talked about it if we would let these negative people have power over us.

Olivia thought for a minute, and then said, “Mom, no one should quiet any actions made out of Love.”

I couldn’t agree more, and I am so proud of her, that she feels that strongly in her heart and mind. Of course, I will support her all the way, however,  Momma Bear will take a (small) step back.

Yesterday, I and Olivia went to a polo horse stable to meet Julia a 16-year-old polo-horse. Again we heard the soul whisper, “I am someone!” I cannot describe the feeling of meeting a soul that is tired, their mind is tired, their body is tired. But I recognize the feelings.

It is heavy!

Right away, Julia felt comfortable with Olivia and rested her head in Olivia’s arms. Gently, Olivia kissed Julia above her eyelid. “I see you!” she whispered back to the beautiful soul.

A vibrate moment of peace occurred in the stable.

Some people might ask me, why rescue another horse when the founds are coming slowly for the other Animals?

Its not an easy answer, since it is a feeling I have inside of me since my childhood. Several of you know me and my history,  and some of you have read my books where I mentioned my tough childhood. How I as a child, many times had to visit the hospital due to being abused.

I was being badly abused for years.

No one dared to stand up for me and speak, to end my horrible situation. I still can recall the feeling when the persons in my life looked at me with sad guilty embarrassed eyes, and then walked away. I was totally alone.

Your brain stops working. You are going on half energy to survive, not to be able to remember. The same with Animals in stress.

They called me dumb.  I was absolutely not dumb, it was my defense mechanism,  my brain had to disconnect to be able to survive. You are waiting to be saved. Like Animals.

Children and Animals we react the same.

This is why, I cannot walk away without at least try, and to beg YOU to help Julia to the retirement she so deserves. That we not only look at her picture with pitty but that we actually will do something together for sweet Julia.

Olivia and I cannot do this alone, let us become a team, and give Julia a wonderful retirement.

That’s Amore!

Why the Hate?

Dear Friends and Followers,

I feel compelled to address some comments that have come to my attention regarding Olivia’s involvement in our horse rescue campaigns and her role with AWL and our horses. It makes me very sad that I even had to take the time to write this, but I want to go on record with our petition.

Anyone who knows me, and AWL, will know that I have always included my children, where appropriate, in our rescue missions. I believe very strongly in teaching compassion and helping my children to learn how wonderful and enriching relationships with animals can be for our lives. And I hope that one day they will help me to spread the word about animal rescue as they go out into the world.

Recently, my daughter Olivia has been playing an active role in our horse rescues. And she has been visible in our campaigns and fundraising efforts. She has her own horse and is on her way to becoming an accomplished rider. But I wanted her to understand the plight of horses who are not as fortunate as Sunshine. And to understand the complicated and very challenging process of rescuing those horses. And also, the care involved once they are rescued.

Somehow, somewhere along the line, some people have started to speculate that we are rescuing horse FOR Olivia. And the story is being changed into Olivia somehow having a very privileged position in this process. I don’t know the motivation. Jealousy? Bitterness? Ignorance? Whatever the case, it has resulted in Olivia being insulted, bullied, made to feel bad for doing something good that comes from her heart and her love of animals.

So going forward I am going to keep Olivia’s contributions to our horse rescue missions more private. She will, of course, help me to care for these wonderful animals who need a team to keep them well. But I will not shine a spotlight on her until I feel it will be safe and productive to do so.

The animal rescue community is full of wonderful people. And so many times we must waste energy defending our good works against those who spew hate. I continue to hope against all hope that I will not have to do this again.

Bird Hope

Update on Hope!

Qual = Vaktel pa svenska.

Hope is a qual, a beautiful one. Her wing and one leg still need to heal. However, I found out this afternoon that Hope was sleeping together with my daughter under her blanket.

Olivia (my daughter) is amazing, feeding Hope with live worms.

It is the children of today that will become the rescuer of tomorrow

That’s Amore!
