Greetings from Figge Fulvio

0

Many ask whats the best part of rescuing animals?

I think the biggest joy is when we find a homeless dog his/her forever home, and receiving greetings and updates from the new family.

I can tell you, our smiles are big.

Suddenly, we have filled our minds and hearts with positive energy again.

Fulvio –now Figge was rescued in southern Italy. He really had some bad luck the first year, and his foster mom loved him dearly, but couldn’t keep him. Then, we found a wonderful family up in Sweden. Figge finally got his “own” family. He gets great love, exercise, and loves to window-shopping.

AWL was able to drive him the whole way up–

Transformation Can be Magical

These two pictures above are amazing, without any words. Just look at them! I am “motherly” proud.

However, I want to explain and tell you the story behind the pictures, and my passion. The passion me and my daughter are having rescuing Horses (all Animals) are beyond anything in life.

Can you imagine it is five (5) months between picture one, and two?

Five months!!

GummiBear is now a 25 years-old horse and was born in Munchen, Germany. Later he was sold as a riding school horse to southern Italy. After years of hard work at that riding school was he sold again, and this time to the other side of southern Italy.

Another riding school.

He worked hard again. He did his job with silence for many days, many months and many years. Then one-day GummiBear lost his power.

There were no pastures, no green grass to have any relaxation. Only a box on the backside without any view.

I received a phone call, to come and get him. When I flew down and saw him I lost my breath. He was so thin and totally out of shape. I prayed hard.

No one actually believed he would go through the veterinarian inspection, not even the Italians. Then a miracle happened, he got his stamp to travel.

GummiBear and another rescue horse Rihanna, both came up to us in southern Germany.

Our veterinarian took a blood test. It came out positive for Cushing, low iron, and very low immune system. Listening to GB heart she heard a murmuring sound.

His hoves hadn’t seen a farrier in months.

We were not worried about the test results since he was under our care now. Different treatments could start.

Thanks to your support, we can provide GummiBear with veterinarian care, medicine, herbal, farrier, and in a good stable with nutrition food.

Please, even if he looks great, we need to maintain him looking like this. He still needs his medicine, herbs, osteopath, box, and food. Not to forget farrier.

We are so grateful for your donations, it makes a difference, and we can make that together with you. Please, let us continue helping GummiBear giving back as a thank you for everything he has done for us.

And, his circle is coming to an end. He has returned to Germany, only four hours away from where he was ones born.

That’s Amore!

Look! Here I am

This is Fulvio and he has waited for a forever home for six months now. We still cannot understand why no one would like to adopt him!

He had a rough start in his life, born on the streets of Neapels in Italy. At an age of 4 months, he got caught by the dogcatchers. They brought him to a very stressful veterinarian clinic where they spay and neuter strays.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

There are No emotions! It’s like a fabric. The sound from hundreds of dogs with anxiety hurts both heart and ears.

Fulvio didn’t have any owner that was waiting for him.

After getting castrated the dog catchers drove him out to the streets and dumped him into a pack of other stray dogs.

Fulvio got severed attacked by a group of strays that protected their territories.

Luckily an Animal Volunteer came passing by and got me out from the dog’s teeth. She drove me to a nice veterinarian and they stitched me up and gave me medicine.

Despite all this is Fulvio a wonderful sweet and funny dog, that love play with other dogs. He is gentle and sweet towards people. This makes us suprised why no one want to adopt him.

Now I am 10 months old and cannot stay any longer at the place he was brought to.

Fulvio’s biggest wish is to feel loved and secured.

To the best family, he can travel. He got his pet passport, up to date shots, dewormed, flea free, newly washed and smells like a puppy: fresh.

Please, give me a second chance. Contact our CEO Mia Mattsson-Mercer

Dogs Umbra

Friends, this one is a real mission of mercy and going to be tough. This is a bonded pair whose owner just died. The yellow dog, Rona, is a 9-year-old spayed female. The white one is Rino, a 2-year-old neutered male. Both are housebroken, leash-trained and used to living indoors. They are still in their owner’s home and someone is coming to look after them, but they need to be out within the next few weeks. Next stop is canile if they don’t find a home, and that will crush them. Please, please help spread the word. They are near Orvieto in Umbria, but I can help with delivery beyond the region.

Welcome to the Two New Rescue Horses

0

We are at the same place where our second rescue horse Miracle comes from, down in southern Italy.

Rihanna (20y) and GummiBear (24) were finally going to come up to Southern Germany to their new home, our Senior Sanctuary. I was so thrilled, and amazingly, it seemed like the two horses knew that something new and different positive was going to happen. They were calm (–not when they saw the carrots I brought with me) and sweet.

The snow had hit bella Napoli for the first time since 1959! It was crazy chaos and it took me a whole day to find horse blankets for them. Thanks to connections (thank you Marina) we found a store that had two blankets from the Italian brand, Pariani. Thank you, Massimo for the discount!

Halters with leading ropes were found in another store. –Trying to save money.

Hofmann Horse transportation came down from southern Germany. We had used them earlier — with Miracle last year, and we couldn’t ask for a better service. Michael the driver, a calm horse person, made everything so much easier for the horses. (and also my nerves)

Michael did a great job driving them up to Northern Italy, unloaded them to let them eat and sleep in a great stable. Early next morning, it was time again,  loaded them and off they went towards Stuttgart. Heavy snow, roads closed…..he made it safely to the stable where we all waited excitingly.

Welcome, Rihanna and GummiBear to your new life. We want to say, thank you for everything you have done to us humans. Time to give back!

That’s Amore!

Please keep supporting us.

Working on the D Vitamins

Amazingly, we can provide Miracle some Sunshine during these dark days (its getting brighter day by day) He loved having warmth relaxing his muscles.

I think this was the first time Miracle received Solarium for Horses. He is 26 years old rescue horse/retired from being a riding school horse in southern Italy. (Now in S Germany together with us as an AWL Horse.)

Two more horses from the same stable are coming up the end of this month. And we will provide the same service as we give Miracle.

All your donations (earmarked Horses) will go to give them the best services. Please, help us help them to have the wonderful retirement that they so deserve. Not end up in a slaughterhouse with anxiety and worthlessness as their last feelings.

WE cannot save them all, however we can all help to make a difference.

That’s Amore,

Bring the horses home

Finalmente!

We have scheduled the arrival of GummiBear and Rihanna to Germany! They will be picked up from their stable in Italy on February 28th and brought to their new home, where we will provide them with veterinary care, necessary ultrasounds, and lots of carrots!

These horses have seen a lot, and now they will have the very best of everything, with your help. This is our final fundraising push for the monies needed to cover transportation and care for the horses upon arrival.

Both Gummi Bear and Rihanna need dental and hoof care desperately; we will prioritize this care to relieve any pain as soon as possible. We need supplies for the new arrivals as well, but most urgently we need cash to pay the bills and bring our beautiful new horses home!

We are registered in NC, USA and Stockholm, Sweden.
