Why This Hate?

Why the Hate?

Dear Friends and Followers,

I feel compelled to address some comments that have come to my attention regarding Olivia’s involvement in our horse rescue campaigns and her role with AWL and our horses. It makes me very sad that I even had to take the time to write this, but I want to go on record with our petition.

Anyone who knows me, and AWL, will know that I have always included my children, where appropriate, in our rescue missions. I believe very strongly in teaching compassion and helping my children to learn how wonderful and enriching relationships with animals can be for our lives. And I hope that one day they will help me to spread the word about animal rescue as they go out into the world.

Recently, my daughter Olivia has been playing an active role in our horse rescues. And she has been visible in our campaigns and fundraising efforts. She has her own horse and is on her way to becoming an accomplished rider. But I wanted her to understand the plight of horses who are not as fortunate as Sunshine. And to understand the complicated and very challenging process of rescuing those horses. And also, the care involved once they are rescued.

Somehow, somewhere along the line, some people have started to speculate that we are rescuing horse FOR Olivia. And the story is being changed into Olivia somehow having a very privileged position in this process. I don’t know the motivation. Jealousy? Bitterness? Ignorance? Whatever the case, it has resulted in Olivia being insulted, bullied, made to feel bad for doing something good that comes from her heart and her love of animals.

So going forward I am going to keep Olivia’s contributions to our horse rescue missions more private. She will, of course, help me to care for these wonderful animals who need a team to keep them well. But I will not shine a spotlight on her until I feel it will be safe and productive to do so.

The animal rescue community is full of wonderful people. And so many times we must waste energy defending our good works against those who spew hate. I continue to hope against all hope that I will not have to do this again.

The Horses Still Need Help

0

The transformation with our three rescue horses are a very fantastic gift back to follow, but we cannot end our help only because they look great on the outside.

They still need our help with healthy nutritional food, their medicines, and dental work. Veterinarian visits, and sometimes x-rays.

We are running out of funds and truly need your help.

Rihanna_examined

GummiBears Heart medicine cost 100 euro/month.

Blood tests to monitor how the medicines are working/helping

Vaccinations are 50 euro per horse/ six months (+-)

Farrier 60-80 euro per horse/8-12 weeks, since their hooves are still in bad shape.

Dentists are coming up this weekend, and that will be around 150 euro per horse.

We cannot give up on the horses because of the “costs” and our values. GummiBear, Rihanna, and Miracle have all worked so hard for us humans. For our pleasure and many times our ego. Isn’t it our job to give thanks back?

This summer we will start different new projects. Our horses play an important role in our “Horses Healing Children”,  and the Therapeutic Horse Program for Children with special needs. Keep an eye out for our announcement.

Also, we have several horses waiting to come to our Sanctuary. It’s amazing people all around Europe have heard about our fantastic transformation with the rescue horses.

They are getting all the treatments they need. We listen to the horse’s desires, and “special” compose their programs for the days. Not all rescue horses want to walk in a pasture all days.

In my experience, many of the horses have gone into their own “mind” to survive their daily work. Some are racehorses, polo horses, riding school horses, private horses, every horse that hasn’t been treated with respect can get a mental breakdown. When they come to us we let them rest and work only by observing them.

Healing and Animal Communication.

It only takes a few days until the horses open up. Trust has been built between us.

When the horse gets an ok from the veterinarian healthwise, we create what the horses want and need.

GummiBear 25 years-old, would like to eat the whole day 🙂 and he loves his walks and play ‘follow John” in the riding arena, be out in the green big pastures. Like an old man appreciating his retirement. He loves Rihanna, our other rescue power girl. He loves company. He doesn’t want to be “alone” among working horses anymore. So we let him have that (not overeating of course).

Miracle 28 years old (soon) loves to be part of the horse community, walking around together with me greeting them all, eating a lot of carrots, and be part of everything we do. Sometimes riding a little, but only slow pleasure riding looking at all the trees.  So we let him have that.

Rihanna, 20 years-old, our power Princess Warrior girl. What a fighter, and clear in what she wants (and not). Former successful jumper, then the success went dark. Tried as a Riding school horse, but to fast. Left in a box. The Lady at the place called and asked me to take her.

Rihanna is having an amazing mind of her own, and she clearly has shown us she doesn’t want to be on vacation. Rihanna loves to be ridden (carefully) at the jumping arena, to be among the other jumpers, to smell the atmosphere.

Now, can she still jump? Only “bunny” jumps, and we are not out after a jumping horse either. However, what makes her happy will make her into a content (happy) horse.

Surely, we make her be in the atmosphere of her past good memories, and we, we let her remember.

We let them all remember, what it ones felt to be appreciated.

That’s Amore!

Amazing Transformation

0

Despite that I have worked with rescue animals for over 25 years, I still get amazed watching them change. It’s the best job ever.

GummiBear 24 years old, came up to Stuttgart Germany, to our Senior Sanctuary beginning of March. He looked rough. Never did anyone think he would pass the veterinarian inspection down in Napoli, Italy before leaving. But the forces were with us.

The third picture is Max –my son– holding GummiBear, and the second picture is Katrin giving him acupuncture. The first picture up left was taken yesterday.

Isn’t he gorgeous! What a transformation.

Animals need their time, and different treatments. What we do, is listening to them and following their directions. Actually, they know the best.

Afterward, are we letting every educated person –in their skills — come and give them their treatments.

Our veterinarian Frau Spotl took blood samples, and when the result showed he was very low on iron and had Cushing, and heart murmur. With the right medication, we got fantastic results.

Of course, not to forget, love and tenderness are huge ingredients in their healing process.

That’s Amore!

The Horses Still Needs Your Help

0

Miracle, Rihanna, and GummiBear are getting better for each day that goes by. Thanks for YOUR help we can keep it this way.

Let’s face it, it is expensive to take care of one horse need. We have been told numerous times that it would be cheaper to put them down.

We refuse to give up! Our goal is to give THANKS back for every child/person they have had on their back for twenty years. For the sweat, they have dropped for us humans. For all the money they have made us humans earn while they have been working hard.

It’s time to give back! Respect any life! Say “Thank you, what can I do for you now?”

GummiBear blood test cost 100 Euro but it’s important to get the correct analyze. He is on heart medicine, zinkmedication, and Cushing meditation

Every month we have a cost of 1000 euro and that is not including other needs, like the dentist (coming next week) farrier and other veterinarian costs.

We please ask for your kindness and help them have a great, healthy, relaxing, time they have left on our Earth.
