The Best Christmas News Ever

0

Just for a couple of days I posted Iris searching after a home. Christmas Eve, I had promised myself not to be on FB or checking my emails. Disappointed and frustrated I had to admit, it was darn hard not to check. I tried to comfort myself that I only had to check three times during the whole day.

Wow, what is happening to us!

However, I am so glad I did. The best Christmas news was laying there waiting for my approval.

A family in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to adopt Iris, would I say yes to them?

Amazing news….Iris is out from the horrible shelter and now in a foster home, the mom that rescued her ones.

That’s Amore Iris!

WONDERFUL ENGLISH SETTERS UP FOR ADOPTION

2

ENGLISH SETTERS are a very common breed in south Italy used for hunting. They are overbreed and got not much status and are being abandon in woods or on streets. English Setters are being well known for being wonderful family dogs, their positive, happy, loyal and very good with children.

Dalma is 4 years old and was found abandon on the field/streets. Many hunters from south Italy abandon their English Setters when not useful anymore.
Dalma is sweet and will become a great family member. Great with other dogs. She is a sweet heart.
Now she is in an outdoor shelter and we would so much want for her to find her forever home before it becomes to cold out there.
She is steralised, vaccinated, de wormed, leaichmania and heartwormtested, and will have her own passport.

Below is beautiful Lisa, a Senior lady with so much to still give.

LISA was being used to breed many litters of puppies for many years locked in a cage. When no longer being to any use she was being dumped.

Lisa is a Senior dog that only wants a family, someone that can see her enourmus loving heart. She is adorable, sweet and humble and have still so much to give. English Setters are being well known to be such a loving family dogs and becoming old.
Since many English Setters are being abandon from hunters we have been successful to find them homes. And all the families are saying the same ‘they never knew before how fantastic they were’
Leiscmania tested, steralised, vaccinated, de wormed, comes with her own passport.

This is Friki from Toscana, Italy. You can see she is not a big dog, 15 kg.
She was abandon by her family. After 4 years they didn’t have time anymore.
She has been in the shelter for 6 months and doesn’t understand what she did wrong?

She is loving and affectionate, she is constantly searching for contact. Sometimes she can become a little jealous since she is afraid of being replaced. Right now she is living together with other dogs.

She is sterilized, vaccinated, leichmania and heart-worm tested = negative.

Neve is 1 year old and full of love. Sensitive and need a warm family/person that will see her in her eyes and promise she can stay.
She will this week be sterilized, vaccinated and tested for leischmania.

Baglico was found outside a gypsy camp in Portugal, disoriented and with burns in his face.

He had got acid splashed to his face. Wonderful volunteers brought him to the veterinarian for treatment. Today he is doing fine however he needs a home before the cold winter is coming.
A house with a fenced in garden would be genial. Calm loving family, maybe an older person.
Balgico is calm and sweet, only 25 cm and 7/8kg.
Tested negative for leischmania and heart-worm.

Can go to the perfect home in Germany and Sweden

AWL IS OPENING UP SOME NEW DOORS AND CLOSES SOME OLD

0

In one way we are very exited for the new journey that AWL is going to take. However it saddens

many of us to official announce

that we will close out Hospice in Lago Patria end of September. Sadly, every month it is too much

money that need to be paid; rent, electricity and gas (and unexpected bills for broken things, light-bulbs,

doors etc. To have a descent place for the seniors cost plenty of money, and every month it’s a struggle

over how we are going to manage the bills.

We love to work with cases like Miele, or Vita and want to continue doing so. AWL is absolutely not giving up on our fantastic work. The show must go on.
When having a hospice we sometimes need people staying at the hospice around the clock. It’s difficult.
AwL got designed a wood house for 4 dogs, and an extra room for supplies.
For the price of 3000 euro it can be AWL own place. But we need your help to help us collect the money.
We will have it built close to one of our volunteer that can watch over it together with some volunteers.
In Germany we are starting with Senior Sanctuary place, for older dog to have a safe place until Heaven calls. Or, for special care for sick unwanted dogs. Volunteers can come and learn, love up on them. The house has two living areas.
The dogs are coming from the difficult area South Italy.
We also has to close our old house Casa dell’Amore, since animals were being dumped, or threatened to be dumped. Every day we get emails and calls from people that think our Hospice is a shelter. Daily, we have to stop our work to explain and argue. Some dogs are being tied up or thrown in over the fence. It’s very dangerous for our clients.
AWL started working in Italy 2008 (Founded 1999) and for many years has AWL worked with shelters with bathing, brushing and walking to socialize the dogs for better possibility for adoption. We will continue doing that once a month, on Saturdays. Bring food and medication donations to our shelter friends. Carrying on with our Spay and Neuter projects and Street projects. There are happy strays and we like to keep them that way by providing with medicine, spay and neuter and food for them. We have our area with strays that we keep a close eye on.  AWL has great teams here in Italy, Germany, USA and Sweden, and we want to sustain working with “difficult” cases.
We still need your support, love and donations so we can do what we are best, saving lives together with YOU.
That’s Amore!

THE FAMILY WITH HEARTS OF GOLD

0
THANK YOU Fam. Butt.
Earlier on the blog, we wrote about the dog Moschino that was hit by a car, left with a broken leg and pelvis on the street. He was brought to a veterinarian by volunteers from Adcr Naples. AWL helped them finding a foster home, and wow Moschino got the best foster home ever.

The Family Butt open their home and hearts for this little fellow. He got so much love, attention and therapy during his stay (exercise and love, the best combo)
Kathryn, its people like you that makes our World look better. Your service, help and effort for this little guy is heart warming. Happy Tears!
From us, AWL, thank you for the best wonderful foster home ***** Moschino is now in Northern Italy with his family that adopted him.
Thank you for making his life mean something.
That’s Amore!

Hard life, right?

I get to hang out with a gorgeous family

Even allowing me to be a  couch dog Not bad for being a former street dog, and….black dog.

Black dogs are very hard to adopt away. Shelters are full with black dogs so the joy was tremendous when the rescue group found a family up north.

I get to stay up late and watch tv. What a great life!

Thank you so much loving family Butt for opening your hearts for me, giving me a chance in life to find true happiness.

That’s Amore!

GREETINGS FROM FORMER RESCUED DOG VASILI

0

The best part of rescuing dogs is of course when we get greetings from our former rescued dogs.
Vasili was found in a shelter very sick. Our Hospice brought him out and started working with him. He was a sweet heart…and he is an even bigger sweet heart now. A wonderful family in Northern Italy adopted him.
We couldn’t be more happy. And, we know he is the happiest boy!

That’s Amore!

GIVE LUNA A THIRD CHANCE

0

 Ones, she was someone’s dog!
Luna was chained and abuse while being strapped to a chain. She couldn’t escape to defend herself. Luna was trapped by the brutality, from a humans hand. She was going to die anyway, since she have a heart failure and they didn’t give her any medications.

Luna is a gorgeous German Shepard only 2 years old.

She was “rescued” to one of the horrible shelters, locked into a cage. One volunteer couldn’t bear to see this beautiful dog dying inside that cage. Despite being neglected and abused Luna is so full out of love and gratefulness. Flavia the volunteer asked if we AWL could help her if she fostered Luna.
You see, Luna is probably not going to have long time left here on Earth. The shelter veterinarian said, maybe 6 months.
AWL wants to help with the sponsoring of medicine/food and I would love if we could sponsor a second opinion of her heart issue. Think if?

Luna needs food and special medicine. Our veterinarian would cost 100 euro to hire a heart specialist. Medicine 150 euro/

Luna deserves a life like she has now, with a lot of love, dog friends, free in a garden and medication.

Please help us help Luna to have the best time in her life. She so deserves it.
