Second, the Veterinarian had to come

0

Veterinarian Stephanie came and made a health check on both Rihanna and GummiBear. We knew GummiBear had some health issues, and of course we wanted to know so we could get the best and correct treatment in for him.

He got a heart murmur in his heart. Stephanie suspected Cushing and took a blood test.

GummiBears blood test came back! It confirmed what our veterinarian Stephanie suspected, Equine Cushing disease. It cannot be cured, however, with effective treatment can improve the horse quality of life.

Cushing’s (PPID) is caused by progressive nerve degeneration in an area of the brain called hypothalamus, leading to a reduction in a neurotransmitter substance called dopamine. Dopamine is important in controlling the secretions of a part of the pituitary gland called the pats intermedia, which in turn is responsible for controlling the secretion of hormones including ACTH and cortisol.

His level of iron and zinc are also low.

We have now started the medications. Please, we are in big need of donations to our medical bills.

Together, let’s help GummiBear to live out the time he has left comfortably.
